It is with heavy hearts that we remember Alexandra Elizabeth Fischer, née Stetter, who peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in New York City at the age of 28. Though her time with us was too brief, her extraordinary kindness, unwavering compassion, and vibrant spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Alexandra’s legacy is one of selfless love and genuine connection, qualities that touched all aspects of her life.
Alex was renowned for her extraordinary care for others. She had an innate ability to make people feel seen, valued, and supported. Whether offering a comforting hug during difficult moments, sending a thoughtful care package, or simply sharing a kind word, her acts of kindness came from a sincere place. Her presence brought warmth and joy to those around her, and her compassion continues to inspire us to be better and kinder every day.
Born in Burlington, Vermont, and raised in Montpelier, Alex was a bright star from her earliest days. She graduated from Montpelier High School in 2015, where she excelled in debate, sports, and the arts. Her artistic talents graced the halls long after her departure, bringing smiles to students and teachers alike—especially her younger sister, Meredith, who looked up to her as a role model and confidant.
Alex continued her education at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, earning her degree in Public Policy in 2020. During her college years, she formed lifelong friendships, immersed herself in her studies, and dedicated herself to her rowing team. Her semester abroad in Copenhagen was a highlight, where she embraced new experiences and built memories that would stay with her forever. It was also during this time that she met her future husband, Eric, a bond that brought her immense happiness.
After graduation, Alex began her professional career as a management consultant in Boston, quickly earning a reputation for her intelligence, dedication, and warmth. Her move to Manhattan marked a new chapter, where she became known as a gracious hostess—filling her apartment with friends, laughter, and delicious home-cooked meals. Her ability to create a welcoming space made her a favorite among friends and colleagues alike.
In October 2024, Alex married Eric in a heartfelt ceremony in Waitsfield, Vermont. They dreamed of building a life together, filled with love, adventure, and shared dreams. Her devotion to her family was unwavering, and she leaves behind her loving husband, Eric Fischer; her parents, Jeff and Jean Stetter; and her sister, Meredith. Their loss is profound, but her love and spirit remain alive in their hearts.
Alex’s impact extended far beyond her immediate circle—her kindness, loyalty, and zest for life touched many. Her family hopes to honor her memory by carrying forward her legacy of compassion and joy. They look forward to celebrating her life in Vermont in the coming months.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Grace Church, 802 Broadway, New York. Following the service, a visitation will take place at Greenwich Village Funeral Home, 199 Bleecker Street, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The family will also host a celebration of life in Vermont to honor her in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kellogg-Hubbard Public Library in Montpelier or the Washington County Family Center. The family will also collect gently used, light-hearted novels at the funeral home for donation in her memory.
